WRITING IS HARD WORK. THANK GOODNESS FOR ENCOURAGEMENT!!
By louridd1 on Sep 14, 2009 | In Welcome | Send feedback »
I'm very grateful to people I have met all over the 'Net, especially my writer friends and others who have been so encouraging. At times it seems writing is such a hard task, but I keep plugging away because I love what I do, and the words of wisdom and encouragement I get are very heartening to this fledgling writer.
I would encourage writers of all types to do as much social networking as they can, without making TOTAL pests of themselves. I've met the most wonderful people on Twitter and facebook and I think the writing forums on Twitter are invaluable to people such as myself - tips from other writers, also editors and publishers, and kindred spirits galore, are all to be found in places like #writechat. While it can be somewhat difficult to keep up when you have so many people expressing ideas at the same time, it's well worth the effort. It also leads to more exposure of your own ideas and draws more visitors to your blogs and websites...
Keep up the good work, everyone. We're going away for the weekend to Woodland Trails B&B and I'm taking my laptop and flash drive so that I can keep writing and also check on my Twitter friends ![]()

DESIGNED NEW BUSINESS CARDS AND STATIONERY
By louridd1 on Sep 5, 2009 | In Welcome | Send feedback »
I spent some time today working on designing new business cards & stationery, and went to Office Max to buy some really nice ivory 100% cotton (w/watermark) letterhead paper and matching envelopes. Wish I could post a picture here of the design but I can't save it as a viewable file...however, maybe some folks will give me reason to send them a letter via snail mail!!! ![]()
Got a little bit of writing done tonite, will write again tomorrow. Catching up on some other things right now that need doing.
Hope everyone is having a great night!!
LONG WEEKEND = TIME TO WRITE
By louridd1 on Sep 4, 2009 | In Welcome | Send feedback »
Labor Day weekend has finally arrived, and for me that means more time to write, and also get some illustrating done. I have some GREAT ideas for illustrations for my childrens book, and am fired up to do some writing. We were planning on going to the MN State Fair on Sunday but decided to give it a miss, so - after going out for a nice breakfast I will hopefully be switching on the laptop and pounding out a few pages
I should have time to get several thousand words out...
On that note, tonight will be an early night so that I can get an early start tomorrow, too. I should be able to get some writing/illustrating done tomorrow, too. Monday we're going to a Labor Day picnic in the afternoon, but the entire morning beckons. I think this is going to be a record-breaking writing weekend for me!

DRAWING PENS, HERE I COME!!
By louridd1 on Sep 2, 2009 | In Welcome | Send feedback »
I'm about to start designing some matching stationery (new business cards, letterheads and envelopes) based on the design of my website. Probably won't use the letterheads/envelopes that much, but it will be nice to have them should I have to send "snail mail" to anyone, and will look more professional. I bought some new drawing pens on the weekend, and am excited about starting to use them ![]()
Also ordered several copies of SEASONS as gifts for a couple of folks, including the person who was the inspiration behind the book - Justin Hayward of The Moody Blues. I have a contact in the UK who will gladly forward the book on for me. I'd like to get my letterheads and business cards designed first, so that I can send it as a nice little package.
Other than that, working on THE WALLS HAVE EYES...And Other Stories, and also my full-length novel, working title CALLAENDERAN. Since we have the Labor Day weekend coming up I hope to be able to set aside some nice blocks of time for writing.
